Hollows

Hollows

Hollows are apocalyptic-level disasters that manifest as abnormal spherical dimensions appearing out of nowhere and swallowing everything they touch.

Inside these Hollows, the normal space-time environment becomes disorderly due to unknown influences, and dangerous mutant creatures known as the "Ethereal" are produced. They represent hostile alternate dimensions that players, assuming the role of a character known as a Proxy, would explore and navigate through in the game.

Modern society fell to the Hollows, yet a city named New Eridu weathered the apocalypse, harnessing technology to mine precious resources from the Hollows. This led to the industrialization and monetization of the Hollows under the city's governance, progressively heightening tensions.

The internal space-time within a Hollow becomes disorderly due to unknown influences. Getting lost in such a place can be very dangerous.

Contemporary civilization has been destroyed by a supernatural disaster known as the “Hollows”. They grow exponentially out of thin air, creating disordered dimensions where mysterious monsters dubbed the “Ethereal” roam. New Eridu, the last urban civilization that survived the apocalypse, managed to thrive by acquiring the technology to extract valuable resources out of the Hollows.

What's inside a Hollow?

Hollows contain:

  1. Mutant monsters: Mutated monsters in the Hollows will attack all foreign living creatures.
  2. Unknown Substance: A mysterious substance that fills the air and corrupts those who come into contact with it. It has potential as a resource.
  3. The Corrupted: The Corrupted are humans who have been infected by the Unknown Substance. They are hostile to all living creatures.
  4. Lawless Thugs: Criminals are also in the Hollows.
  5. Hollow Raiders
  6. Proxies
  7. Personnel of official agencies

Classifications

Hollows are classified into two groups:

  1. Original Hollows: Cretan, Lemnian, Hawara, Pursenas, Solove and Papago
  2. Companion Hollows: A sub-Hollow resulting from the expansion of a certain primary Hollow.

Companion Hollows tend to be easier than Original Hollows, which has stronger Ethereals.

Commissions on Inter-Knot generally include these three things: where to go, what to do, and what to give.

Newcomers tend to focus on the latter two, and care little about "where to go" - they're all going into a Hollow anyway, so who cares which one?

This thinking could cost you your life. Hollows are not all the same, and each has its own characteristics: the terrain, the Ether environment, and the Ethereals inhabiting them can all be different. Rushing into a workplace that doesn't match your abilities can result in loss of life.

New Inter-Knot users can choose what work they take on according to their own ability based on the official Hollow classifications.

  1. Original Hollows (not recommended for novices): Cretan, Lemnian, Hawara, Pursenas, Solove and Papago - As the six primary hollows they are large in scale, with complex environments, Ethereals of varying strength and many other characteristics best suited to veteran proxies and Hollow Raiders.

  2. Companion Hollows (recommended for novices): A sub-Hollow resulting from the expansion of a certain primary Hollow is termed a "companion Hollow." They are smaller in scale and possess lower Ether concentrations, making them suitable places for newcomers to engage in commissions. There are exceptions, hwoever, such as the infamous "Dead End Hollow".

Gather information, listen to the opinions of others, and carefully consider your own abilities before choosing the right Hollow to enter.

Time and space

Inside the hollows, time and space can change quickly.

Time and space change fast in the Hollows, if we don't hurry we'll never find her!
